Overview

[68Ga]Ga-13.1c is a Gallium-68 labeled small-molecule radiopharmaceutical developed for the targeted imaging of prostate cancer. It belongs to a series of DOTA-conjugated ligands designed to target the prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), a type II transmembrane protein and zinc-containing metalloprotease also known as glutamate carboxypeptidase II (GCPII). PSMA is highly overexpressed in prostate cancer cells, making it an ideal target for diagnostic tracers. [68Ga]Ga-13.1c consists of a PSMA-specific ligand linked to the chelating agent DOTA, which coordinates the positron-emitting isotope Gallium-68. In preclinical evaluations using the LNCaP cell line, the conjugate demonstrated high binding affinity and efficient internalization. Notably, in vivo biodistribution studies showed that [68Ga]Ga-13.1c achieves an optimized kidney-to-tumor accumulation ratio, outperforming the FDA-approved imaging agent [68Ga]Ga-PSMA-11, thereby establishing it as a promising candidate for PET-based prostate cancer diagnosis.
